SPIRIT

Our guiding expectations at Nelson School are captured in SPIRIT:

Safety
Problem-Solving
Including others
Respect (for others, self, and property)
In control (of body, mind, words)
Treating others the way they want to be treated

All members of the Nelson School community strive to demonstrate these expectations and values each day. 

Students are routinely recognized for showing Nelson SPIRIT by earning gems. These gems are collected in a container near the office, and when ALL students work together to fill the jar with gems, they get to work together to choose a reward. This has resulted in building a more positive student culture, and has resulted in students demonstrating SPIRIT more consistently, as they have a chance of a positive recognition for their exemplary behavior.
